About Us
The Children’s Health Initiative of Kern County is a community partnership working to provide uninsured children access to comprehensive health insurance. Since 2004 the Children’s Health Initiative has succeeded in providing health insurance to 1400 children through the Healthy Kids Program. In addition, due to our community outreach efforts many families have been enrolled in Medi-Cal and Healthy Families.
We are constantly searching for new sources to continue to fund and expand the services we provide to children in our community. There is still a great need within our community, thousands of children in Kern County are without health coverage.
OUR VISION
The goal of the Children’s Health Initiative (CHI) of Kern County is that all uninsured children living in Kern County will have:
- Access to comprehensive health insurance
- The means to establish a stable medical and dental home, where they can be seen consistently in a preventive health model
- Parents and caregivers who can honor their responsibility to provide health care for their own children.
Throughout California, more than 86,000 previously uninsured children now receive comprehensive healthcare coverage thanks to the work of CHI’s. Our success shows that covering all kids is an achievable goal!
